56th Idea Filmfare Awards Night...!




Waited (eagerly) for the 56th filmfare Nite...was watchable (only coz of RK n IK) but technically (me no expert) a disaster...it weren’t a real awards nite...it was a stars nite (whch vry award is)..d Tech awards were rushed through....not enugh time given to music n othr contributers...sham(e) for the Filmfare team..



What the heck were you doin telecasting d awards a week late...poor editing...PC wearing dresses whch aint in order...no reality to d show...repeated smiles/poses from SRK, AB, Aish, Vidya , B, Kajol, Preity n KJo, gawd knws who else. D only non repititive faces were of Madhuri Dix, n newly wedded Ms. IK (Avantika) after the performance from IK and tribute to MD, that only the two were worth some reaction.



Not to miss Mr. Kites...whch reminds if it wasnt kites dat was newhere near...atleast Udaan (synonymn to kites coz both refer to escalation n talk of heights) rose to the occassion.



And the lady gaga of the evening ...with passionate SRK (Mr. 40+) were back in action with Raj romancing his Maya....not so young but back in action on Indian soil.

The entralling parts were performance by Sonu Nigam...it was a personalised touch to a glam show...with Shatru..Khamosh being a witness to Big B 40 years...n in praise (silent in his own way...was himself khamosh this time). It seemed as if the lost glory of his was revived in the form of his Dabang Daughter who won accolades n rose (to pck award) even bef her name announed and envelope opened.



There were lighter and emotional moments too from SRK pointing to Shatrughan S, as to how it feels to be a husband, be it a pathan or someone else, to Rishi Kapoor accepting the award for Do Dooni Chaar, remembering his last podium visit to accept his son’s award and one prior for his Father too. So it’s something in the Genes…from RK (Raj Kapoor) to RK (Rishi Kapoor) to RRK (Ranbir Raj Kapoor).



Both IK n RK took d show to heights...replacing SRK n Chotta Nawab...good dat Shahid wasnt called up to add to disaster. But both RK n PC (4rm Zee cine) copied....(Delta, Charlie) SRK really well...sm1 who cud do anything (itz 4 u to guess).


SRK again had his moments...he aint as humble as Big B and quoted what his wife had told him (to say and not to) but spoke his heart n mind out...for he thinks he wants it King Size...dis was a moment he shud have taken d moment and brought Ra-One(oopss dat BTW is A Rampal)...so a great opport. missed not by SRK but by Arjun...whoz yet to appear on Ra-One promos....even d fake onez online....neverthless...!

d awards went thru in a rush...gud dat there werent fake n weird moments like SRK shouting in midst on PC anchoring as Khan...from d apiglotis...(well done by RK n PC both). But the great part is the humor that Indian stars are showing toward themselves, though it werent as fun n fitted wen Akshay did it in Zee Cine. So none here is the king...the young Bees are making it well...whether it be likes of IK, SRK or promising new Ranbir (Bitto or Bunty Singh).




The magic of movie remains…whether it be RK or AB or SRK or RK once again…the show must go on.

Unstoppable...!

U N S T O P P A B L E



My tag line would be 'Locomotive behind locomotive.'

But is it all about the chase ? It's more than that. Let me express the way I visualize it.



But first things first. What made me glue my attention to 'Unstoppable.' I must say the advertising but seems it only got to me and none else and therefore am the only audience talking about it, but i thoroughly enjoyed the ride.

It's been more than 24 hours I saw the movie, but it was on my mind over the last weekend and the download was already on.

The first looks were that of a giant size locomotive in the train yard thinking (me) what could be more powerful and devastating than those ton size vehicles despite moving at the pace of a tortoise. The view of still vehicle was a sight to watch.



You could compare the surroundings to that of an aerodrome and could see how much a varying difference existed in the working lives of a pilot or an engine driver. None worked any less (hours of work) nor was the risk any less comparable, cause both carried behind them lives which could be at stake if anything went wrong. The thought scared me for a moment, since if a cab/bus/truck/auto driver thought the same, they would have never come to this job...cause gawd knows whose live could be at stake. More people die on road than in air...so why would someone eye not flying in air than on road (here locomotives included).

But that was just one part of it. Ran together the story of people mastering the locomotive and the efforts to stop it. Behind those efforts were the stakes of the train co. which would seek organisational benefit or avoid any loss first, just like a profit earning body seeks it's interest (at the lives of others). Calculations made and decisions done in the boardroom, while the efforts of those 2 men along with several others are on. Now this becomes more than a chase...a chase to 'Bring down the Bitch...this is your conductor speaking as says the young guy'







Simply Social Network





Quick fingers on the keyboard, so are mine at the moment, breaking the transcript and stealing the pictures, was a fantastic idea. The thought of hacking has always been interesting with the programming touch makes it so very interesting.

But is hacking all that makes the story so very interesting, nah, I just saw those girls, and idea all began from comparing pictures of two of them and checking whose the hottest. That's what I am getting more and more confident of what is attracing the eyeballs to this movie, but not exactly, it was just a part of it. If the movie is such a big hit, as I heard it's rated to be, it's all about how the idea of how quick can one turn BIG (billionarie, here) and not to miss, what apirations can let you into. As the tage line says ''You dont get to 500 million friends without making a few enemies"...to add on, "...making a few enemies out of friends."



if you like girls, have an 'enterpreneurial skill', wanan have lots of friends and may end up with a few enemies, you would like Social Netowrk.

At the end of the movie, I am beginning to hate Mark Z and the story finally tells what money/aspiration to grow could do to you, you lose on relationships, the Social Network is lost you are cut off.

World Around Us




My day began at 6.00 am, with me getting straight out of bed and latching to the Idiot Box – the mirror of the world for me.



The first glimpses on the day were that of the Friday Blockbuster – Haji Mastan. The man’s aura was described all over in the backdrop of Mumbai and the mafia and underworld world.






The content ignited fire in me more so based on what I was experiencing in my life and world.

But what inspired me to begin writing was the article on Aamir Khan’s (increasing appearance/overdose) and various other articles from Parliamentary functions to British PM’s India visit to Indian cricket and plethora of commercial advertisements (majorly), with everything up on sale.



It makes me wonder, how the world of today came into picture where everything is up for sale and ideas generated to get people to buy each one’s product and services.

Not everyone succeeds in it and it takes time to learn the art of how to make sure that we sell convincingly.

Is everything around us up for sale and why do we hate the idea of something being sold to us, even though when we have a need for it. Somewhere a sale is equivalent and symbolic of self interest (which could also involve missing on interest of the other), and though it involves a return (product/service/interest) to us, we fail to understand and accept the concept of it.



If you sell me something, it makes me wonder – what’s in it for you. But does that happen every time. Certainly there are times when we don’t doubt and readily proceed to make the deal/purchase thinking it is in our interest. It could be our interest/self-gain or the aura/image/trust that makes us go for such a deal.

But is the selling concept of selling so very demeaning or just involves self/one-sided interest? These are a few objective questions that come to my mind, before I go on doubting the entire concept of sales.

However if I get back to the world around me/us – there is greed, self-interest, hypocrisy, criticism and every negative thing one can think of, happening around us and yet not many of us are unaware or become aware of it until it involves them/us personally.

As I flip over the pages of HT – I see plethora of advertisements making an effort and trying to make a mark to grab people’s attention.



It is strange that common man’s stories cannot showcase or make place for them without a commercial advertisement making place around them (which in turn makes place for those stories, therefore the commercial angle). You would find an entire page dedicated to a HP Printer (not a need for many) to a household plot (out of the reach of so many and so desired by them) with another page (at back) dedicated to another not so very famous brand (making me wonder) if they actually make enough to afford this entire page of commercial display.

Every news from cricket to Maradona to Olympics to commonwealth to war pictures etc. is encircled by commercial content. The humor is reflected when a picture of Anupam Kher, playing a dramatic act (which I was expecting) to be around a not to meaningful advertisement was just above and around the Government and Proclamation notices, DDA ads and everything not so commercial and advertisement like, AK and theatre is known for. So someone like AK gets place in not so wonderful areas on the newspaper whereas a Tendulkar advertisement gets a highlight on the main page just below the commonwealth Glitter.

Something similar was voiced in the HT City article (getting 1/8th the space Aamir’s article got) sharing thoughts from Amol Palekar (his picture also makes place here) on how Aamir managed such hype for a content which was considered so distasteful for the Indian audiences. That’s how the human mind works. Everything in this world, howsoever non glamorous it may be, is attended to, based on who endorses for it thereby making it a piece of attention.





It’s all in the mind after all.

And the first glimpses before anything (in HT) was that of India’s Got Talent ad., with the face of three (not sure how much talented, or moreso now in work, a few seem just the replicas of the foreign show).

Not all of us may be that talented, but our search is to seek the Most Talented among the talented – leaving behind all those whose talent was never recognised.

Rocket ki Pocket...!



Would anyone ever wonder a movie titled Rocket Singh...ever be about a sales man...by the title it only makes you wonder and go round and round and round...till you know you are falling in a trap...let's forget the title...aakhir Title main kya rakha hai...sab kuch tow position main...bank balance main...property main...hi hai..!

This reminds me of the dialogue...hai..! mere pass maa hai...bungla hai..gaadi hai...tere pass kya...MERI POCKET MAIN ROCKET HAI...bhai mian...!



Hilarious...isnt it...but interestingly...Deewar takes us back to the era when the common man was in dires...young people were jobless seeking their roji-roti, when one bhai became a don and the other chasing him till the dawn. Aakhir mujhe ab tow pehchano...main hoon kaun....and everyone knows it by now.

The angry man of the 70s has become the sales man of the 21st century.

Human Mind....!

The thought that makes me write is how human mind lays the basis of everything. After nature, the most powerful is the human mind. For if you wish to control the nature as well, it's (mind) application can bring a change in the natural environment, from stopping rain clouds in olympics to making dams to sea bridges and what not.

But why is it that makes the human mind so submissive and remains under shadow. For what is taught to us, whether correct or otherwise remains with us and for many of us, being followers we tend to follow it blindly and stay with all those myths. For human beings are considered to be seekers but where after all are we heading.

For sure the world is changing and so is the human mind evolving with the times, but we are still attached to those beliefs and dont want to look beyond them.

For this thought sets ground for an interesting discussion - since we still fail to see what's around us. Are we really that naive ?

What makes me write is the growing change in Indian Television. Here every second counts and is there to sell..from the child's dyper to a milk bottle to the Basmati Rice Bag...everything showcased sells.

It would not be far when the Idiot Box shall turn a mini shopping-mall making you order and buy every piece of necessity. No other means of media grew faster than is the television industry of today.

Gone are the days when the television was only a medium to telecast news, chitrahaar, our desi krishi darshan and the television soaps.

If it were today that a Mahabharata, Ramayan or a Hum Loge were telecasted that the Draupdi would appear in Reena Dhaka labeled saree or a lady saver wearing a VIP frenchie.

The television world of today is up there for a grab and every moment of that eye-ball made to see everything from a saas-bahu soap, to a Reality Show and the products showcased there.

Be it a Basmati rice or a pack of cheese or a kid's dyper...now the actors get less camera attention than the showcased product. If it's the Pati, Patni or "Vo" Rakhee Sawant fame or defame (show as one would choose to say, also here Rakhee seems apt for the title "Vo" than anyone else) the program has a visit to a calcutta mall with the Sawant babe trying hard to get a BOGO (Buy One Get One FREE) offer or negotiating as though in the local Sarojini Market...gathering max. attention to those branded Noodles. Every action now seems so targetted that it seems that the new age world of TV has come a long way.
